Apple hasn't said exactly how many downloads

Pokémon Go, the augmented reality game that might as well be everyone's second job, has become the most downloaded mobile app in its first week of release in the history of the App Store. Apple confirmed the record toThe Verge, although no concrete download numbers have been made available. The app, a free-to-play mobile title from developer Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, was released on July 5th in Australia and New Zealand and a day later in the US. It launched in Japanjust yesterday as well.
It's no surprise to hear Pokémon Go is breaking records, considering it's dominated headlines for the past two weeks. The game has also sat comfortable in Apple's top free and top grossing charts in the App Store, beating out mainstays like Game of WarCandy Crush Saga, Facebook Messenger, and Snapchat. According to mobile analytics firm SuperData ResearchPokémon Go may have earned as much as $14 million by July 11th, putting its daily revenue at about $2 million in the first week alone.
We've reached out to The Pokémon Company to try and determine exactly how many downloads the game received in its first week, and which other mobile it beat out to claim the title.
Update July 22nd, 2:43PM ET: Added confirmation from Apple.
